Bank Rakyat Malaysia appoints Amsyar Azizi as Head of People & Culture

Bank Rakyat Malaysia has appointed Amsyar Azizi as its new Head of People & Culture, strengthening the cooperative bank’s leadership team as it continues to advance its people, culture, and transformation agenda.

Azizi announced his appointment on LinkedIn, sharing that he has officially assumed the role in June 2026. “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head, People & Culture at Bank Rakyat Malaysia,” he wrote.

The appointment marks a significant milestone in Azizi’s HR and organisational development career, which spans more than a decade across banking, compliance, training, financial services, and workforce development.

Prior to joining Bank Rakyat, Azizi served as Head of Consumer Protection & Compliance Training at Agrobank, where he led initiatives focused on organisational culture, compliance capability building, and employee development. During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening compliance awareness and fostering a culture of accountability across the organisation.

Before Agrobank, he spent nearly five years at Hong Leong Bank Berhad, holding several leadership positions in compliance training, communication, advisory, and specialist support. His responsibilities included driving bank-wide compliance culture programs, overseeing role-based training frameworks, and supporting regulatory and financial crime compliance initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Azizi worked with the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), where he contributed to investor education programs under the InvestSmart initiative, and with HSBC in Global Banking & Markets, focusing on training delivery and project management.

At Bank Rakyat, Azizi is expected to lead the bank’s people and culture strategy, with a focus on cultural transformation, talent development, employee engagement, and organisational effectiveness. His background in change management, compliance, and workforce capability building positions him to support the bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its organisational culture and enhance employee experience.

Azizi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Universiti Teknologi MARA.
