Cimplr by Cashinvoice has appointed former ANZ banker Sandeep Das as Managing Director (MD) for the Middle East and Asia-Pacific (APAC), as the enterprise finance platform expands its presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and Asia-Pacific markets.
Based in Dubai, Das will lead the company’s regional expansion, build partnerships with banks, financial institutions and corporates, and develop technology-led supply chain finance solutions to address businesses’ working capital requirements.
Das brings more than 30 years of experience across corporate, institutional and investment banking, including over two decades in Middle Eastern and Asian financial markets.
He joins Cimplr after spending more than 14 years at ANZ, where he most recently served as Head of Banks and Insurance Coverage, Middle East, leading the bank’s institutional banking franchise across the region.
Cimplr targets GCC and APAC markets
The appointment comes as Cimplr strengthens its international presence following its entry into the UAE.
The company plans to expand across the wider GCC, partnering with regional banks and anchor corporates to introduce treasury, investment, risk management and payment solutions before entering selected APAC markets.
Building on its experience in supply chain finance, the business is expanding into a unified enterprise finance platform covering treasury, payments, financing, working capital and risk management.
Focus on working capital finance
Das said, "The Middle East and APAC markets are seeing a growing focus on improving working capital efficiency, strengthening trade flows and building more resilient supply chains. In the UAE, around half of all B2B sales are made on credit and close to 60% of those invoices are deferred, which leaves smaller suppliers effectively financing their much larger buyers."
“Cimplr has demonstrated how technology can bring greater efficiency and accessibility to supply chain finance in India,” he added.
“I look forward to taking this experience to GCC markets, building strong institutional partnerships and developing solutions that address the working capital needs of businesses across the region," he emphasised.
Cimplr co-founder and CEO Arun Poojari said, "Sandeep brings deep institutional banking experience and a strong understanding of the financial ecosystem across the GCC.”
“His leadership will strengthen our ability to build strategic partnerships and expand our technology-led supply chain finance solutions into new markets," he also noted.
Das brings extensive banking experience
Before joining Cimplr, Das held senior positions across the Middle East and India. At Emirates NBD, he served as Regional Head, Global Financial Institutions, managing a US$2 billion asset book and more than 450 correspondent banking relationships. He also held leadership roles at Bank Muscat, alongside earlier positions at ICICI Bank and IDBI Bank.
His experience includes advising financial institutions, diversified financial services businesses, private equity and venture capital funds, and family offices across the GCC.
His areas of work have included balance sheet structuring, fundraising, debt solutions, trade and shipping finance, structured products, and risk and environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
In his new role, Das will work with Cimplr’s leadership to establish institutional partnerships and develop market-specific solutions for businesses across the Middle East and APAC.
