Malaysia-based CoinGecko has appointed Joachim Ooi as its new Head of People, effective immediately, strengthening its people and culture leadership as the company continues to scale its operations.
Ooi joins CoinGecko after spending more than five years with Arvato Systems Malaysia, where he most recently served as Talent Acquisition Lead. Announcing his departure from the company, Ooi reflected on his tenure, describing it as one of the “most meaningful chapters” of his career, shaped by “growth, opportunity, and learning.”
In a farewell message shared publicly, Ooi thanked the leadership, colleagues, and global HR team at Arvato Systems Malaysia for their support and collaboration throughout his journey. He credited the organisation’s leadership for enabling impactful HR initiatives and highlighted the importance of teamwork in driving business and people outcomes.
Ooi brings more than 17 years of experience spanning technology, talent management, culture building, and HR leadership. His career began in software technical support before transitioning into human resources, a background he says helped shape his people-first leadership style grounded in empathy, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.
Sharing news of his appointment at CoinGecko, Ooi said he was “excited” and “humbled” to step into the leadership role.
“Stepping into the role of Head of People at CoinGecko...excited, humbled, and definitely aware that there will be loads of work ahead,” he said.
He added that he looks forward to building strong people experiences, shaping culture, and supporting the company’s continued growth journey.
At CoinGecko, Ooi is expected to focus on strengthening organisational culture, talent development, and employee experience as the cryptocurrency platform continues expanding its footprint in the digital asset ecosystem.
