Marriott International has appointed Ming Choo Ling as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for its Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) region, effective today.
In the senior leadership role, Ming Choo will be part of Marriott’s APEC and Global Human Resources leadership teams and will lead the company’s people strategy across the region.
Ming Choo brings more than 25 years of HR leadership experience across Asia and global markets. Most recently, she served as CHRO for Home Care Greater Asia at Unilever, where she partnered with senior business leaders to strengthen organisational and leadership capability, develop future-ready talent and lead large-scale transformation across diverse markets.
Throughout her career, Ming Choo has held country, regional and global HR leadership roles, supporting business growth through people strategies while helping organisations navigate periods of transformation and change.

Based at Marriott’s APEC regional headquarters in Singapore, Ming Choo will lead the region’s leadership and talent strategy, with three strategic priorities: Growing Great Leaders, Investing in Associates and Expanding Access to Opportunity.
In her new role, she will strengthen the capabilities of nearly 116,000 associates across APEC, supporting the workforce that will contribute to Marriott’s next phase of regional growth.
Marriott currently operates more than 760 hotels across 27 brands in 22 markets and territories across APEC. The company’s people-first culture has also received recognition across the region, with 15 markets currently Great Place to Work Certified and nine markets earning national Best Workplace rankings.
These recognitions, Marriott said, reflect its continued focus on creating an environment where associates can grow, lead and thrive, while reinforcing the culture that supports the company’s business performance.
Ming Choo succeeds Andrew Newmark, who served as CHRO for the APEC region before retiring after 25 years of leadership at Marriott.
