Suryo Sasono joins Bank Rakyat Indonesia as Executive VP of Human Capital Strategy & Talent Management

Indonesia’s largest lender, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), has appointed Suryo Sasono as Executive Vice President of Human Capital Strategy & Talent Management, strengthening its leadership team as the bank continues to focus on talent development, organisational capability building, and workforce transformation.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Suryo said, “I'm happy to share that I'm starting a new position as Executive Vice President of Human Capital Strategy & Talent Management at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.”

In his new role, Suryo will oversee BRI’s human capital strategy and talent management agenda, leading key areas including rewards, performance management, talent development, organisational development, and human capital policy. He is also serving on the Supervisory Board of the BRI Pension Fund, one of Indonesia’s largest self-managed pension funds.

Suryo joins BRI following a tenure as Chief Human Resources Officer at Prudential Syariah, where he led people and culture initiatives for the Islamic insurance business. 

Prior to that, he spent more than four years at Bukalapak, holding several senior leadership positions, including Chief Talent Officer, Senior Vice President of Talent, and Vice President of Talent and CEO Office.

During his time at Bukalapak, Suryo led human resources functions across Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia, supporting the company’s talent growth and organisational development efforts. His career also includes consulting experience at Boston Consulting Group, where he served as Project Leader and Consultant, driving transformation initiatives across the telecommunications, energy, and banking sectors.

Earlier in his career, Suryo played a key role in the rapid expansion of GO-JEK, where he led HR business partnering and workforce transformation initiatives during the company’s hyper-growth phase. He also held HR and organisational effectiveness roles at ConocoPhillips Indonesia, contributing to workforce planning, talent management, and process optimisation projects.
