Swiss Re has appointed Angela Collett as Head HR ANZ, Japan and Philippines. Based in Sydney, Collett will oversee the HR agenda across Australia and New Zealand, Japan and the Philippines. Her career spans financial services and insurance, with experience across Australia, Singapore and China.
She brings more than 23 years of experience across strategic HR leadership, business partnering, people strategy, employee engagement, organisational change, talent management, compensation and employee relations.
From Berkshire Hathaway to Swiss Re
Collett joins Swiss Re after more than seven years with Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, where she served as Head of Human Resources, Australasia. In the role, she led the HR function across the region, building on her experience supporting financial services and insurance organisations.
Her appointment at Swiss Re adds to a career focused on HR leadership across multiple markets, including strategic people management, employee engagement and organisational change.
11 years with Citi
Before Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Collett spent more than 11 years with Citi, where she held HR leadership assignments across Australia, Singapore and China.
Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources in Sydney, leading HR support for the Consumer Bank and Global Functions across Australia and New Zealand.
Earlier, she supported Citi’s Institutional Client Groups across the two markets, partnering with senior leadership on people strategy and employee engagement.
During her time with Citi, Collett also served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources in Singapore, where she partnered with senior management and the site head on people strategy for a regional Operations & Technology hub of approximately 3,500 employees.
She previously held Senior HR Generalist roles in Singapore and Shanghai, including a secondment as lead HR Generalist for Global Markets and Banking in China. Her responsibilities included resourcing, selection, compensation and employee relations.
Early HR career
Collett began her HR career with UNSW as a Human Resources Officer before joining Corrs Chambers Westgarth as a Human Resources Advisor.
At Corrs Chambers Westgarth, she supported employees across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
With more than two decades of experience across HR leadership roles and multiple Asia-Pacific markets, Collett now takes on responsibility for the people's agenda across ANZ, Japan and the Philippines at Swiss Re.
