Private sector workers across Central Visayas are set to receive a P42 daily minimum wage increase from October 14, following the National Wages and Productivity Commission’s (NWPC) unanimous affirmation of a new regional wage order.
The increase, approved by five commissioners present during the NWPC’s September 26 deliberation in Cebu, will bring the daily minimum wage to P582 in Class A areas and P542 in Class B areas.

The wage order was issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board VII (RTWPB VII) and submitted to the NWPC for review, as required under the commission’s wage-setting guidelines. DOLE Secretary and NWPC Chairperson Francis N. Tolentino confirmed the affirmation following the deliberation.
The new rates are expected to take effect on October 14, after the required publication period. Following the NWPC’s affirmation, RTWPB VII will proceed with publishing the wage order in line with the prescribed rules.
The wage adjustment follows consultations and public hearings conducted by RTWPB VII with workers, employers and other stakeholders across Central Visayas.
The move adds to a series of regional wage adjustments in the Philippines, with wage boards setting rates based on consultations involving labour, management and government representatives.
For employers in the region, the new order will require payroll systems and compensation practices to be aligned with the revised statutory minimum rates once the order takes effect.
