Philippines raises NCR minimum wage by P60 effective September 26

Minimum wage earners in the Philippines’ National Capital Region (NCR) will receive a P60 daily wage increase from September 26, following the issuance of Wage Order No. NCR-28 by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The new wage order raises the minimum daily wage for non-agricultural workers in NCR from P695 to P755. Agricultural workers will also receive the same P60 daily increase.

DOLE announced the wage order on September 11, following its publication and the completion of the established tripartite wage-setting process by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR (RTWPB-NCR).

The department said the increase is intended to improve workers’ purchasing power and support inclusive economic growth, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to raising workers’ purchasing power.

Employers in the region have been reminded to comply with the revised wage rates once the order takes effect on September 26. DOLE said it will monitor implementation of the new minimum wage rates.

The wage adjustment comes as employers and workers continue to navigate changing labour-market conditions and cost-of-living pressures in the Philippines, with wage-setting decisions balancing workers’ purchasing power with businesses’ ability to sustain employment and operations.
