Thailand regulator expands leadership programme with air force partnership

Thailand’s insurance regulator is deepening its investment in workforce development through a new collaboration with the Royal Thai Air Force’s Education Department, as reported by Asia insurance review.

The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has launched the third year of its high-potential employee development programme, designed to shape future leaders within the organisation.

Chuchat Pramoonpol, Secretary-General, OIC described the initiative as a central part of the regulator’s organisational development strategy.

He said the programme aims to build “a new generation of leaders with high potential, analytical thinking skills, creativity and the courage to think outside the box”.

The initiative also focuses on strengthening leadership qualities that encourage bold thinking and strategic decision-making in every situation.

Skills evolution

The programme has evolved steadily over the past three years.

According to Chuchat, the first year focused on leadership foundations and teamwork. The second year shifted towards cross-functional skills, data-driven thinking and adapting to the digital era.

This year’s edition introduces a more intensive learning model developed alongside the Royal Thai Air Force’s Education Department.

Participants will undergo training in leadership, systematic thinking using casual loop diagrams, teamwork and crisis analysis.

Real-world cases

The programme will also use real-world case studies to sharpen decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Among the examples included are the crane collapse in Nakhon Ratchasima province and flooding incidents in Hat Yai district.

The OIC sees the programme as part of a broader effort to prepare employees for increasingly complex risks and fast-changing business environments.

By combining leadership development with practical crisis management lessons, the regulator is aiming to create a workforce that can respond faster, think strategically and adapt confidently to future industry challenges.
