ABC Impact's investment will support hospital, clinic and pharmacy expansion, while Singtel grows the country's AI and digital workforce.
Singapore's ABC Impact is expected to help create 10,000 jobs in the Philippines' healthcare and retail sectors by 2027 through its investment in Ayala Healthcare Holdings, according to Business World, citing the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The investment will support AC Health's expansion across hospitals, multi-specialty clinics and retail pharmacies, strengthening healthcare access while generating new employment opportunities.
Separately, Singtel Group is also expanding its technology presence in the Philippines, adding momentum to the country's digital workforce development.
Healthcare expansion to drive hiring
According to the DTI, ABC Impact, a private equity firm backed by Temasek Trust, will acquire a 16% stake in AC Health as part of the investment.
The Ayala-controlled healthcare provider plans to expand its network to at least 10 hospitals, 300 clinics and 1,150 pharmacies by 2027.
The DTI said the projected 10,000 new jobs will span healthcare and retail operations, although the final figure will depend on the mix of newly built facilities and acquisitions completed during the expansion.
Singtel strengthens technology workforce
In a separate development, Singtel Group is expanding its technology operations in the Philippines through NCS Philippines, its joint venture between technology services arm NCS and Yondu, a subsidiary of Globe Telecom.
The venture, with an enterprise value of P1.87 billion, has already expanded its Philippine workforce to more than 1,200 professionals.
The DTI said, "This expansion significantly boosts the country's digital, cloud, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, positioning the Philippines as a key delivery hub for global technology services."
Focus on future-ready skills
During a meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Singapore, Singtel reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Philippine market and its partnership with Globe Telecom.
Through NCS Philippines, the company plans to strengthen local talent in high-demand fields including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics and software engineering, supporting the country's ambitions to become a regional technology and digital services hub.
