Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Bank appoints Jonathon Lee as chief financial officer

Lee brings more than two decades of experience in the financial services sector, and most recently served HSBC as Financial Controller for Asia and the Middle East.

Hong Kong–based lender Hang Seng Bank has appointed Jonathon Lee as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective March 2026, strengthening its senior leadership team as it continues to expand its presence in the region’s financial landscape.


Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Lee said he was honoured to join the institution, describing it as one of the pillars of Hong Kong’s banking sector. “I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Hang Seng Bank as Chief Financial Officer. It’s a true honour to become part of such an iconic institution, one that stands at the heart of Hong Kong’s financial landscape and is renowned for its strong heritage and deep local expertise,” he wrote.


Lee added that he looks forward to collaborating with the bank’s leadership team to build on its legacy while tapping into the global network of its parent group, HSBC.


“As Hang Seng continues to be Hong Kong’s leading local bank, I look forward to working alongside a talented leadership team and dedicated colleagues across the business. Together, we’ll build on our proud legacy, drawing on the Group’s global reach to unlock new opportunities and deliver even greater value for our customers and communities,” he said.


Lee brings more than two decades of experience in the financial services sector. Prior to joining Hang Seng Bank, he served as Financial Controller for Asia and the Middle East at HSBC, where he held several leadership roles across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa over an 11-year tenure.


Earlier in his career, Lee worked with professional services firms including KPMG in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, as well as Mazars in the United Kingdom, gaining extensive experience in finance, audit and advisory.
