Julie Goran joins Goldman Sachs as Managing Director, Head of Workforce Strategy and Organisation Design

Goran will fous on workforce strategy and organisation design as businesses navigate the impact of AI, agentic technologies and broader digital transformation on jobs, operating models and organisational structures.
Julie Goran has joined Goldman Sachs as Managing Director and Head of Workforce Strategy and Organisation Design, bringing more than two decades of consulting experience at McKinsey & Company to the global investment bank.
Goran announced the move on LinkedIn, saying she was joining Goldman Sachs at a time when companies are increasingly focused on the people and organisational implications of digital transformation.
“I am incredibly excited to share that I am joining Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director and Head of Workforce Strategy and Organization Design,” Goran said. She added that she was “honored to join at an important time” as organisations address the people and organisational dimensions of digital transformation.
Her appointment follows more than 20 years at McKinsey, where she progressed from Business Analyst to Partner. Reflecting on her tenure, Goran thanked her mentors, sponsors and colleagues, describing McKinsey as an important part of how she developed her career.
At Goldman Sachs, Goran's remit will centre on workforce strategy and organisation design as businesses navigate the impact of AI, agentic technologies and broader digital transformation on jobs, operating models and organisational structures.
Goran has advised CEOs, CHROs and senior executives on using emerging technologies to improve organisational performance, accelerate execution, optimise operating models and strengthen culture and talent development.
Her recent work has focused on reimagining work and redesigning roles as organisations adopt new technologies. This includes helping companies transition employees into new roles, build AI and leadership capabilities among leaders and managers, and develop the skills required for evolving workplaces.
Goran has also worked on designing new organisational structures and ways of working to support business strategy and improve delivery.
Her appointment comes as financial services firms and other large organisations assess how generative AI and agentic technologies could reshape workforces, job responsibilities and organisational structures. For HR leaders, the shift is increasingly moving beyond technology adoption towards questions around workforce planning, skills, leadership capabilities and organisation design.
Goran holds a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Ethics, Politics and Economics from Yale University.
