Malaysia Aviation Group names Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar as President and Group CEO

Datuk Captain Izham, who began his journey with Malaysia Airlines in 1979, leaves behind a legacy of resilience and transformation, having steered the Group through financial restructuring and operational improvement efforts that helped restore profitability and strengthen MAG’s long-term outlook.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has announced the appointment of Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar (Captain Nasa) as its new President and Group Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 February 2026. He succeeds Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, who will retire after an illustrious four-decade career with the airline. 

A home-grown leader with over 30 years of experience across flight operations, management, and strategic roles, Captain Nasa has been instrumental in driving several key transformation initiatives within MAG, including the turnaround of MASwings and the rollout of profit-driven structures under the Group’s Long-Term Business Plan 2.0.

As President and Group CEO, he will lead the execution of MAG’s strategic priorities, focusing on operational excellence, customer experience, and sustainable growth as the Group advances into its next phase under LTBP3.0.
