Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has appointed Salil Chari as President of its Asia Pacific (APAC) region, effective January, 2026.

Chari, who previously served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience for APAC, succeeds Kawal Preet, who has moved into the role of Executive Vice President (EVP), Planning, Engineering, and Transformation.

In his new role, Chari will shape the strategic direction of FedEx’s APAC business and lead a workforce of nearly 30,000 team members across the region. His mandate includes driving profitable growth, strengthening customer experience, and advancing operational excellence in one of FedEx’s most critical global markets.

“Salil’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for our Asia Pacific business,” said Richard W. Smith, Chief Operating Officer, International, and Chief Executive Officer, Airline, FedEx. “He brings exceptional multi-regional leadership experience and a deep understanding of the region. I am confident he will further strengthen APAC’s role in FedEx’s global growth journey.”

Chari’s appointment reflects FedEx’s long-standing commitment to developing leaders from within. He began his career at FedEx in 1997 as a marketing analyst in Memphis, U.S., and has since held senior leadership roles across Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Africa.

Commenting on his new role, Chari said, “It is an honor to lead such a talented team in a region that sits at the center of global trade. Asia Pacific is home to some of the world’s most dynamic trade corridors, creating significant opportunities for businesses to grow and compete globally.”

He added that his focus will be on strengthening resilience, accelerating growth, and deepening FedEx’s role as a trusted partner for customers and communities across the region, while continuing to uphold the company’s Purple Promise of outstanding customer experience.

Chari also shared the update on LinkedIn, thanking Kawal Preet (who moved into a new role last year) for her leadership over the past five years and highlighting his commitment to bringing a strong customer-first lens to the role as FedEx shapes its next phase of growth in Asia Pacific.
