Trane Technologies appoints Donny Simmons as Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer

Simmons most recently served as Group President of the Americas region, where he oversaw a diverse portfolio spanning commercial and residential HVAC, transport refrigeration, and life sciences solutions.
Trane Technologies has appointed Donny Simmons as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective July 1, 2026, as the climate technology company strengthens its leadership structure to support its next phase of growth.
Simmons, a 25-year veteran of the company, will report directly to Dave Regnery and assume responsibility for overseeing the company’s regional business units and operations.
The move is designed to improve alignment across businesses, accelerate execution, and position the company to capitalise on emerging opportunities driven by the global energy transition, climate innovation, and advances in artificial intelligence.
The appointment comes as Trane Technologies continues a period of rapid expansion. Since becoming a pure-play climate innovation company in 2020, the firm has nearly doubled its annual revenue, creating a need for greater integration between its regional operations and strategic priorities.
“Donny’s appointment is an important step in our growth journey,” said Regnery. “By bringing our regional businesses and operations together under his leadership, we will foster deeper collaboration, strengthen our Business Operating System and accelerate execution of our strategy.”
Simmons most recently served as Group President of the Americas region, where he oversaw a diverse portfolio spanning commercial and residential HVAC, transport refrigeration, and life sciences solutions. During his tenure, he played a key role in driving profitable growth across several of the company’s core businesses.
Since joining the organisation in 2001, Simmons has held a range of senior leadership positions, including overseeing Commercial HVAC operations in North America and EMEA, as well as leading several global industrial businesses. His experience spans general management, sales, manufacturing, finance, and large-scale operational leadership.
The company said the leadership change will help it respond more effectively to evolving market dynamics and strengthen its ability to deliver sustainable growth as demand rises for energy-efficient and climate-focused technologies.
