Doherty held several leadership positions across CIB and Transaction Banking including as the MD and Chief of Staff to the CIB CEO for three years until January 2024.

Jennifer Doherty has stepped down as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Transaction Banking within Standard Chartered’s Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business, effective October 2026, after more than six years with the bank.

Announcing her departure in a LinkedIn post, Doherty wrote, “After 6.5 years, I’ve made the decision to move on from Standard Chartered.”

Reflecting on her tenure, which began in March 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, she said her first six months involved meeting colleagues across the organisation through video calls.

“It certainly wasn’t the norm back then, but it fast-tracked my learning of how to build real trust and relationships almost entirely through a screen,” she wrote.

Doherty held several leadership positions across CIB and Transaction Banking during her time at the bank. She served as MD and Chief of Staff to the CIB CEO for three years until January 2024, before taking on the role of MD and Head of Business Enablement & Transformation for Transaction Banking.

In July 2025, she became Managing Director and COO of Transaction Banking, with responsibility for strategy execution, operating model effectiveness, investment governance, non-financial risk and transformation delivery across a global franchise valued at approximately US$5 billion.

Reflecting on her leadership journey, Doherty highlighted the contribution of colleagues and teams across global markets and time zones, emphasising the role of organisational culture in business performance.

“Along the way, I’ve worked alongside some of the sharpest, kindest and most driven people I’ve ever met, spanning global markets, multiple time zones and more Teams calls than I can count. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved, and even prouder of how we did it. Strategy matters, but culture is what makes it happen. We invested in both, and as a result the business thrived,” she wrote.

She also thanked colleagues, mentors and leaders for their support and influence on her leadership approach.

“To the colleagues who became friends, the mentors and leaders who pushed me, and the teams who showed up for each other on the bad days just as much as the good ones: thank you. You’ve shaped how I lead, and I hope I’ve returned the favour. I’ll carry all of this with me into the next chapter,” Doherty wrote.

Doherty confirmed that she would begin a new role in early December 2026, with further details to be shared later. She also acknowledged her time in Singapore, where she has spent nine years.

“As for what’s next, I’m excited to be starting my new role in early December, and I look forward to sharing more soon. Singapore, thank you for nine brilliant years,” she wrote.

Alongside her executive career, Doherty has served as a board member of U-Go, an organisation that provides scholarships to help young women in low-income countries access higher education, and the Irish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.
