Wipro expands South Korea operations with new Seoul innovation lab and talent investments

The lab will primarily focus on the technology, automotive, and industrial sectors, supporting use cases such as intelligent product engineering, software-defined vehicles, smart manufacturing, supply-chain optimization, and AI-enabled operations.
Wipro has announced a major expansion of its operations in South Korea, including a larger office footprint in Seoul, the launch of a new Innovation Lab, and continued investment in local talent, as the company strengthens its presence in one of Asia’s leading technology and innovation hubs.
The expansion underscores South Korea’s growing strategic importance in global innovation, particularly across semiconductors, advanced technology, automotive engineering, and industrial manufacturing. Wipro said the move is aimed at supporting rising demand from South Korean enterprises seeking AI-led transformation and scalable global technology solutions.
The company currently employs several hundred professionals in South Korea and plans to continue investing in the local ecosystem. Wipro serves South Korean clients through its local operations supported by its global delivery network, enabling enterprises to access specialized skills, industry expertise, and scalable global capabilities while maintaining close local engagement.
As part of its long-term talent strategy in the country, Wipro is also partnering with academic institutions to help upskill local talent and create opportunities for early-career professionals to work on advanced technology and innovation programs.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Seoul, Vinay Firake, CEO of APMEA Strategic Market Unit at Wipro, said South Korea represents a key growth market for the company and an increasingly important global innovation center. He noted that the expanded presence is intended to strengthen local capabilities, connect Korean operations more closely to Wipro’s global delivery and innovation network, and support enterprises in turning innovation into measurable business outcomes.
The newly launched Seoul Innovation Lab will operate as part of the Wipro Innovation Network (WIN), the company’s global network of innovation facilities. The lab will focus on collaboration with clients and ecosystem partners, enabling co-creation, rapid experimentation, and solution development. It will also showcase Wipro Intelligence™, the company’s suite of AI-powered platforms and solutions designed for enterprise transformation.
The lab will primarily focus on the technology, automotive, and industrial sectors, supporting use cases such as intelligent product engineering, software-defined vehicles, smart manufacturing, supply-chain optimization, and AI-enabled operations.
With the launch of the Seoul Innovation Lab, Wipro now operates nine innovation facilities globally, including five across the APMEA region.
The expansion also builds on Wipro’s acquisition of the Digital Transformation Solutions business unit of HARMAN International, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, completed last year. The acquisition added more than 5,000 professionals across South Korea, the Americas, Europe, and India, significantly strengthening Wipro’s product engineering and digital transformation capabilities, with South Korea playing a key role in serving clients across Asia and global markets.
