Binance offers precautionary relocation to UAE staff to ensure safety and business continuity

Binance, which employs over 1,000 staff in the UAE, has introduced precautionary relocation options to ensure employee safety and maintain uninterrupted global operations through its remote-first model.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, is offering relocation options to employees in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as escalating geopolitical tensions disrupt business operations across the Middle East.
According to its statement, the exchange has provided staff in the UAE with the option to temporarily move to key Asian financial centres, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok.
The measure comes amid growing safety concerns following regional instability and reports of missile and drone activity affecting parts of Dubai.
Binance, which employs more than 1,000 staff in UAE, approximately 20% of its global workforce, said the decision was a precautionary step aimed at ensuring employee safety and operational continuity. The company emphasised that its remote-first structure enables it to maintain uninterrupted global services.
“Given the recent regional tensions, we offered employees the option to temporarily relocate as a precautionary, employee-first measure,” a Binance spokesperson said, adding that many employees have chosen to remain in the UAE and that operations in the country continue as normal.
The exchange’s global operations are supported from Abu Dhabi, where it operates under a regulatory framework established by the Abu Dhabi Global Market, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a major hub for digital assets.
However, Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao pushed back against reports suggesting a large-scale evacuation. Responding to media coverage, Zhao described the claims as misleading, stating that the company has long provided flexible work arrangements.
“This is not something new,” Zhao said. “Binance has always provided flexible work location arrangements for employees and will offer reasonable relocation support based on specific circumstances. Personally, I believe the UAE remains one of the safest countries in the world.”
