More than 100,000 job vacancies have been advertised on the MYFutureJobs portal this year, but the number of active job seekers remains more than four times higher, underscoring the growing competition in Malaysia’s labour market.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday that 100,882 vacancies were posted between January and November 14, against 464,534 active job seekers registered on the platform.

He said the information and communications sector made up the largest share of vacancies with 55,269 positions, followed by administrative and support services (34,391), manufacturing (33,866), professional, scientific and technical fields (24,849), and financial and insurance activities (21,459).

Abdul Rahman was responding to a question from Azli Yusof (PH–Shah Alam), who sought a comparison of new jobs created in 2024 and 2025 that exceeded the 2023 median monthly salary of RM2,600, as well as insight into the sectors driving job creation.

According to MYFutureJobs data, 1.1 million cumulative vacancies were advertised between January and Sept 30, 2025, lower than the 1.5 million listings recorded throughout 2024.

Abdul Rahman said 247,889 openings offered salaries of RM3,000 and above this year, compared with 339,916 such positions in 2024.

He emphasised that the government has set targets and rolled out several initiatives to improve access to these opportunities, particularly through MYFutureJobs under the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), which aims to match local talent to high-demand roles and reduce reliance on foreign workers.
