Anthropic wants talent in Singapore, but what is driving the hiring push?

The AI company is bringing its Claude business closer to Singapore customers, while building teams across technical, commercial and research functions.
Anthropic is set to hire across applied AI, finance, marketing, sales and economic research in Singapore as strong enterprise demand for its Claude AI platform drives the company’s expansion in the country.
The company currently has nine Singapore-based openings listed on its careers page, according to media reports
The AI company will open its Singapore office in October, its fifth location in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new office will be based at Raffles Place, with Anthropic planning to work with organisations ranging from startups and digital-native businesses to large enterprises and the public sector.
Hiring across functions
The nine roles span five teams and include:
Applied AI Architect
APAC Tax Lead
Head of APAC Accounting
Senior Payroll Manager, APAC
Field Marketing Manager, APAC
Regional Research Economist
Account Executive for digital-native businesses
Account Executive for the public sector in ASEAN
Enterprise Account Executive for ASEAN industries generalists.
Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International at Anthropic, said the Singapore office was a “natural next step”, given the country's high adoption of Claude.
“A presence here means we can hire the people who know this market best, and work side by side with local customers and partners building with Claude.”
Singapore ranks second among 121 countries in Claude.ai usage relative to population, according to Anthropic’s latest Economic Index. Usage in the country is 5.81 times higher than would be expected based on its population size.
ASEAN leadership
Dale Finlay, who has joined Anthropic as General Manager of ASEAN, will lead the company’s operations in Singapore and work with customers and partners across South-east Asia.
He previously held leadership roles at technology companies across the Asia-Pacific region, including nearly a decade at Google Cloud.
“From working with customers across South-east Asia, I’ve seen that ambition isn’t the blocker to AI adoption – trust is. Once that trust exists, the real work is embedding AI into how the business actually operates,” said Finlay.
Anthropic said demand in Singapore has been particularly strong among regulated sectors, including financial services and government.
The company also cited Singapore’s concentration of technical talent, global businesses, research institutions and innovation capabilities as factors behind its decision to establish a presence there.
Focus on responsible AI
The expansion comes as Singapore continues to promote AI adoption across industries while placing emphasis on strengthening workforce capabilities and responsible use of the technology.
“That balance between innovation and safety aligns closely with Anthropic’s approach,” the company said.
Anthropic’s Singapore expansion follows similar moves by OpenAI and Google DeepMind, which have established operations in the country to support AI adoption and development. Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC is also among Anthropic’s major financial backers.
Senior Anthropic leaders are expected to visit Singapore for the office opening to meet customers, partners and policymakers.
