Singtel has rolled out ChatGPT Enterprise to more than 3,000 employees in Singapore, marking a major step in the company’s push to embed artificial intelligence into everyday business operations.

As reported by the firm, the deployment, carried out in collaboration with OpenAI, has already recorded more than 80% monthly active usage among employees, a figure Singtel believes reflects sustained engagement rather than simple access to the technology.

Internal data from the past three months showed employee usage levels exceeded OpenAI benchmarks, supported by continuous training programmes and internal assistance.

Staff members reported saving time on work-related tasks while also improving creativity and brainstorming capabilities, highlighting how AI is beginning to reshape workplace processes across the organisation.

Workforce transformation

Singtel said it invests $20 million annually in employee training as part of broader efforts to strengthen internal capabilities and support workforce upskilling.

The company has integrated AI into key workflows spanning software development, customer operations and decision-making processes, while leadership continues to drive adoption across business units.

William Woo, Chief Information Officer and Group Chief Digital Officer, Singtel’s Group said, “We see AI as a significant opportunity to empower our people and transform how work gets done across Singtel. As we scale its use, it is critical that our employees are equipped to use it confidently and responsibly, so we can translate these tools into meaningful improvements in productivity, innovation and customer experience.”

The company said broad employee adoption has been supported by measurable productivity gains, structured training initiatives and active leadership involvement.

Beyond access

Singtel’s AI expansion also aligns with wider investments across its digital infrastructure business, including its regional data centre and IT services arms, Nxera and NCS, as it looks to capture growth opportunities emerging across the AI ecosystem.

Oliver Jay, Managing Director - international business, OpenAI said, “As intelligence becomes more like a utility, organisations need to make AI useful in the day-to-day work of their people.

The firm is taking meaningful steps to do that using OpenAI’s technology, scaling adoption in a way that is practical and people-centred.”

“What stands out is the investment not only in frontier AI capabilities, but in helping employees use them confidently and effectively across real workflows.”

Practical adoption

Singtel said its AI journey demonstrates that the true value of artificial intelligence lies not only in gaining access to advanced tools, but in how effectively employees can integrate them into daily work to generate meaningful business outcomes.

With enterprise AI adoption accelerating globally, the company’s approach reflects a growing shift among large organisations towards practical, people-focused implementation rather than experimental deployment alone.
