Deutsche Bank appoints Jennifer Tay as Vice Chair for Southeast Asia

She joins from Citibank, where she spent more than two decades in senior wealth management and investment advisory roles across Asia-Pacific.

Deutsche Bank has appointed veteran wealth management executive Jennifer Tay as Vice Chair for Southeast Asia, strengthening its senior leadership team as it expands its private banking business across the region, according to media reports.


Tay will join the bank on 3 August and report to Johanes Oeni, Head of Southeast Asia for Deutsche Bank's Private Bank. She joins from Citibank, where she spent more than two decades in senior wealth management and investment advisory roles across Asia-Pacific.


Veteran banker


Most recently, Tay served as Market Executive and Head of Investment Counselling for Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and Asia South at Citibank. She also managed a portfolio of ultra-high-net-worth clients across Singapore and Indonesia.


Over her career, Tay has led teams spanning Singapore, Hong Kong, the Middle East and London, with expertise in managed investments, portfolio advisory and wealth management. She has also worked with institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds.


“Jennifer brings vast banking and wealth management experience including in managed investments sales and investment and portfolio counselling, and leading teams spanning Singapore, Hong Kong, the Middle East and London,” the memo highlighted in media reports read.


Focus on client engagement and growth


In her new role, Tay will work closely with Oeni and the Southeast Asia leadership team to deepen relationships with key clients, strengthen senior client coverage and support the continued expansion of Deutsche Bank's One Bank Solutions offering across the region.


The appointment forms part of the bank's broader strategy to strengthen its wealth management franchise in Southeast Asia by adding experienced senior leaders.


Strengthening regional leadership


Commenting on the appointment, Marco Pagliara, Head of Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank, said, “Our ability to continue attracting highly respected bankers like Jennifer reflects the strength of our platform, the momentum of our business and the opportunities we offer senior coverage and clients.”


He added that Tay's regional network, leadership experience and market expertise would support the bank's efforts to expand client relationships and deliver tailored wealth management solutions across Southeast Asia.


Tay holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with honours from the National University of Singapore and brings more than 20 years of experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients across multiple international markets.
