James Sung appointed as CEO at Acrophyte Hospitality Trust

Jung has been with ACRO-HT since its listing in 2019, serving as Director of Investments. In his new role, he will oversee the Trust's overall strategy, business operations and long-term growth initiatives.
Acrophyte Hospitality Trust appoints James Sung Jung as chief executive officer, according to Singapore Business Review. The appointment takes effect on July 16 2026, with Jung set to lead the Trust's strategic direction, management and operations.
Jung succeeds Lee Jin Yong, who will remain with the parent company until 31 July 2026 to support the leadership transition and ensure continuity of ACRO-HT's strategic and operational plans, according to the report.
Leadership transition
Jung has been with ACRO-HT since its listing in 2019, serving as Director of Investments. In his new role, he will oversee the Trust's overall strategy, business operations and long-term growth initiatives.
The leadership change comes as ACRO-HT looks to maintain continuity while advancing its investment and hospitality portfolio strategy.
Two decades of hospitality expertise
Jung brings more than 20 years of experience in hospitality investments, acquisitions, asset management and strategic transactions.
He spent over a decade at HEI Hotels & Resorts, where he led feasibility studies, investment transactions and business development activities across the company's private equity platform and third-party operations.
Over the course of his career, he has been involved in approximately US$2 billion worth of transactions with institutional investors, private equity firms and US-based real estate investment trusts.
Broad investment and consulting background
In addition to his hospitality investment experience, Jung has worked in technology enterprise consulting across the gaming, lodging and banking sectors.
He holds a Master of Management in Hospitality from Cornell University and an MBA from the State University of New York at Albany, bringing a combination of operational, investment and strategic expertise to the chief executive role.
