The leadership change comes as the spirits maker continues to strengthen its presence in one of its most strategically important markets.
Kanchan succeeds Vinay Golikeri, who has been promoted to Regional President for Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) and Global Travel Retail (GTR).
Golikeri led Bacardi's India and Southeast Asia business for more than three years and has spent over two decades with the company, multiple media reports said.
Experienced leader
Currently serving as Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Kanchan brings more than 30 years of experience across the alcoholic beverages and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries.
In his expanded role, he will oversee Bacardi's operations across India and Southeast Asia, leading the next phase of growth in India, a market the company continues to identify as central to its long-term global strategy.
Leadership perspectives
Reflecting on his tenure, Golikeri said, "It’s been a privilege to lead the India business and I’m proud of the momentum we’ve built and the strength of the team. India remains a critical market for Bacardi, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with Mahesh to build on this progress as part of my wider AMEA role."
Kanchan expressed confidence about the opportunities ahead, saying, "I’m excited to take on this role at a time of significant opportunity for Bacardi in India. We have a strong team, clear momentum and a business well positioned for its next phase of growth."
Strategic market
According to the company, India remains one of Bacardi's most important growth markets, supported by continued investment, strong business momentum and a long-standing presence in the country.
The company also highlighted India's role as a key source of leadership talent for its global operations.
Several senior executives have emerged from the market, including Bacardi Limited Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Madhavan, reinforcing India's importance in the company's long-term leadership pipeline.
