Aon plc has appointed Sean Deehan as Chief Executive Officer of its Strategy and Technology Group for Asia Pacific (APAC), effective immediately, as the global professional services firm strengthens its leadership to support regional growth in advisory, analytics and technology-led solutions.

Based in Hong Kong, Deehan will report to Sherif Zakhary, Global CEO of Aon's Strategy and Technology Group and Inpoint, and will focus on expanding the firm's capabilities across one of its fastest-growing markets.

Appointment aligns with regional growth ambitions

In his new role, Deehan will help broaden access to Aon's integrated advisory, analytics and technology offerings, enabling clients to make more informed risk and capital decisions while supporting business growth.

A key priority will be increasing adoption of Aon's Life Risk Modeling Suite across Asia Pacific, including PathWise, the company's platform for life and annuity risk modelling. According to Aon, the platform enables actuarial teams to run complex projections more efficiently.

Sherif Zakhary said Asia Pacific represents a significant growth opportunity for the Strategy and Technology Group. He added that Deehan's regional experience, commercial leadership and market knowledge will help strengthen collaboration and deliver greater value to clients across the region.

Industry veteran brings more than 25 years of experience

Deehan joins Aon with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning insurance, consulting, corporate strategy and risk management.

His experience covers several areas, including:

  • Insurance strategy and consulting
  • Actuarial leadership
  • Risk management
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Market entry strategy
  • Product innovation
  • Client advisory

He has worked extensively across Greater China and the wider Asia Pacific region, leading business growth initiatives in several of the region's insurance markets.

Former Willis Towers Watson executive joins Aon

Before joining Aon, Deehan served at Willis Towers Watson, where he was Greater China Divisional Leader and Head of Hong Kong and Macau.

Earlier in his career, he held several senior executive and board-level positions, including serving as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Standard Life (Asia).

Commenting on his appointment, Deehan said he is joining Aon at a time of significant opportunity for the region. He said he looks forward to working with colleagues and clients to strengthen innovation, expand the firm's capabilities and support long-term business growth.

Technology remains central to client strategy

The appointment reflects Aon's continued investment in technology-enabled advisory services as insurers and financial institutions increase their focus on analytics, modelling and data-driven decision-making.

Operating in more than 120 countries, Aon provides risk capital and human capital solutions supported by analytics and technology platforms. The appointment of Deehan reinforces the firm's strategy of expanding specialised advisory capabilities across Asia Pacific, with particular emphasis on life insurance risk modelling and technology-led client solutions.
